Utrecht Leidsche Rijn krijgt een nieuw cultuurhart: Berlijnplein. Dit wordt een bruisend plein waar vijftig organisaties in kunst, onderwijs en technologie een plek krijgen. Met theaters, expositieruimtes, cafés en werkplaatsen wordt het zowel lokaal als nationaal een interessante plek.

Met en voor cultuurmakers



                    
Berlijnplein is er voor cultuurliefhebbers, maar het is ook een plek voor de hele buurt. Om te zitten, te spelen en te organiseren. Binnen én buiten. Het plein wordt van de cultuurmakers die een vaste locatie hebben, en ook van het publiek en van buurtgenoten. Daarom ontwerpen we Berlijnplein met en voor de cultuurmakers en pleingenoten. Tijdens participatiesessies kijken we met elkaar naar wat echt nodig is. We bespreken hoe het plein werkt, hoe je van het theater naar het koffietentje loopt en of de dansschool op de juiste plek zit om ook buiten te kunnen optreden. Op deze manier komt het plein nu al tot leven en is het straks van alle pleingenoten.



          

  


      
  

      


    

          

    

      

              
          
          
          
          
        
            

      

        

          

            

              
In het ontwerp geven we een centrale rol aan een zogeheten drager: een constructief object wat overal op, door en in de verschillende gebouwen te zien is. Tijd is hier een belangrijk thema: het object kan verschillende levens aan, maar alles wat op, aan en om de drager zit verandert met de tijd. Dit maakt het plein vandaag relevant, en het geheel flexibel voor andersoortig gebruik in de toekomst.


Daarnaast zorgt de drager voor gemeenschappelijke identiteit en herkenbaarheid voor het geheel. Het is een beeldmerk voor het project wat alle gebouwen verbindt. Individuele gebruikers kunnen ervoor kiezen de drager zichtbaar te maken in hun gebouw waardoor het onderdeel kan worden van bijvoorbeeld een expositieruimte. Op andere plekken heeft het alleen een constructieve functie. Flexibele wanden maken dat de ruimtes naar behoefte opnieuw in te delen zijn.
