Thuisgevoel in een AZC

Bij INBO vinden we dat iedereen recht heeft op een fijne plek om te wonen. Een plek waar je je thuis voelt, ook al ben je ver weg van huis. Daarom werken we sinds 2020 samen met Centraal Orgaan opvang Asielzoekers (COA) aan menswaardige vormen van huisvestiging. Zodat we kunnen helpen de opvang van vluchtelingen beter te organiseren.

In AZC Grave hebben we ons hard gemaakt voor houten flexwoningen. Flexwonen is hier in meerdere opzichten een gouden greep. De woningen zijn circulair, duurzaam, verplaatsbaar én inzetbaar voor andere doelgroepen. Daarom biedt het meerwaarde voor de toekomst.

Normaliter delen 8 personen één ruimte inclusief alle faciliteiten. Dit zorgt regelmatig voor conflicten en gebrek aan privacy. In Grave realiseerden we zelfstandige woningen voor 6 personen waar mensen zelf koken en schoonmaken. Het COA ziet dat bewoners de flexwoningen met zorg behandelen en veel voorkomende problemen hier uitblijven.

Willemien Brouwer, COA Grave, over de impact van de woningen: ‘We zien in gebruik en onderhoud een groot verschil met de grotere appartementen. Bewoners zijn zuiniger op hun huis en behandelen en onderhouden het echt als hun eigen woning. Mensen hebben hier bijvoorbeeld een eigen wasmachine en droger in de woning die netjes gebruikt worden. Op andere locaties delen bewoners deze voorzieningen en dan gaat het gebruik niet altijd goed. Als iedereen verantwoordelijk is, voelt niemand zich verantwoordelijk.

Ook is het leuk om te zien dat bewoners zelf en van eigen middelen voortuinen hebben aangelegd. Inclusief tuinstoelen om buiten te zitten. Mensen hebben in dit flexwoningen-straatje echt contact met elkaar. Op deze manier wonen helpt mensen vroeg aan een toekomst en netwerk werken.’
